Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
The short version
- You don't need an account to use Nippon2Go.
- Your trips, routes and checklist are stored only on your iPhone. We have no server and cannot see them.
- There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell your data.
- Some features use Apple and Google services, which handle data under their own privacy policies.
1. Who we are
This policy applies to the Nippon2Go iPhone app ("Nippon2Go", "we", "us"). If you have any questions about your privacy, contact us at carlos@nippon2go.com.
2. Data stored on your device
Nippon2Go saves the following only on your iPhone, in the app's own storage:
- Your trip details: dates, daily plans, routes, saved places and visit times.
- Your packing checklist, including any items you add.
- Your preferences, such as app language and route pace.
- A record of which plans you have added to your calendar, so they aren't added twice.
- If you use the place editor and choose a photo, a copy of that photo. Nippon2Go only receives the photo you pick and has no access to the rest of your photo library.
This data is not sent to us or to anyone else. It is removed when you delete the app.
3. Optional sign-in
Signing in is optional, and the app works the same without it. Signing in does not create an account on any server of ours and does not upload your trips.
Sign in with Apple
If you sign in with Apple, Apple gives the app a user identifier and, the first time only, your name and email address. You can choose to hide your email. This information is stored in your iPhone's secure Keychain and is used only to show that you are signed in. Signing out removes it from the device.
Sign in with Google
If you sign in with Google, Google's sign-in service gives the app your basic profile (name and email address). Google's software keeps your sign-in details in your iPhone's Keychain. We don't ask for access to any other Google services, such as Calendar or Drive. Google processes your sign-in under the Google Privacy Policy.
4. Services that connect to the internet
Google Places (place photos, details and hotel search)
To show place photos, a place's details card and hotel search results, the app sends requests to Google Maps Platform. These include the place being viewed, or the hotel name you type and the city, plus your chosen language. Like any internet request, Google also receives technical information such as your IP address and device type. Google may collect information about how its software is used. This is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Photos and place details are shown with Google's attributions and are not stored by the app.
Apple Maps
Maps in the app are provided by Apple and are covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Links to other services
Some buttons open other websites or apps, such as Google Maps (directions), Booking.com (hotels), Klook (activities and JR Pass), Skyscanner (flights), Holafly (eSIM), Heymondo (travel insurance) and Revolut (cards). Some links include details needed for your search, such as the destination, the city or your trip dates. Once you leave Nippon2Go, the other service's terms and privacy policy apply. We do not receive any information about what you do there.
5. Permissions
- Calendar: only when you choose to add your itinerary to your calendar, Nippon2Go asks for permission to add events. It cannot read, change or delete your existing events.
- Location: Nippon2Go does not access your device's location.
You can change permissions at any time in your iPhone's Settings.
6. What we don't do
- We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't sell, rent or share your personal data.
- We don't run servers that store your information.
7. When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and help you, and we delete it once it is no longer needed for that purpose. We do not add you to any mailing list.
8. Children
Nippon2Go is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Your rights
Because your trip data stays on your device, you are always in control of it: you can edit it in the app or remove it by deleting the app. To sign out, go to Profile → Account → Sign out. If you have contacted us by email, you can ask us to access, correct or delete that correspondence by writing to carlos@nippon2go.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how Nippon2Go handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
